I wonder if he runs a phosban 150 reactor with GFO to keep PO4 down, I would recommend he at least use a maxi 1200 for that size system :). Also, a medium or large mag float will help him with algae buildup.

i would say a large mag float.....;D i gotta say.. i just finished reading his thread and the tank isnt as inpressive as i thought it would be... yet.. anyways.. his water is to dirty and there is to much exess nutrients because he brings water straight from the ocean..

hopefully he manages to clear that up and cover it in coral and such.. then it will be breathtaking. lol

right now it is just water with fish on it.:-/

AKA 90 grand wasted on nothing. The design doesn't even look nice. It is just a huge tank of water to me.

that was just the rock.... lol
he probably spent as of now close to 150 grand or more..
im guessing he rushed things.. i mean, that build would look pretty nice if he were to paint the walls.. and make the water clear. etc..
he needs a lot to do though.. i guess thats what it feels to be rich and have nothing to spend it on..

That's what happens when you have an absolutely insane amount of oil that's easy to drill in a very small area, and seven monarchies absolutely willing to use it.

That tank is insanely huge. It seems it's somewhat unfinished as of yet, though.

I don't see the point of this past educational value. From what I can see this looks to be nothing more than a duplication of the ocean next to him (maybe some other species, but as far as how clean looking it is).

I don't know this guys game but from appearances it seems like an outdoor stadium with a tank instead of a stage. It might end up being beautiful, but right now looks like a public aquarium. Notoriously ho-hum.

I didn't read the whole thing so very likely not giving a fare shake. Maybe he has some master plan that I would actually love.

i dont know why they are pulling in water from the ocean though. i mean its big enough to just run by itself. if i can run my 90g with no significant changes in sg, temp, ect why cant this guy??

yes thats what it is.. of what i read.. this guy wants to keep his tank pretty much of what he can find locally. He said he was going to add some other species, so that his kids would enjoy it too. ( he mentioned clown fish and Regal tangs)
he also mention he doesnt plan on having a skimmer. ( although his refugium is bigger than all our tanks put togueter)..
but he is pulling water from the ocean passing it through his tank and then back to the ocean. ( i think thats what it is).

I LOVED his rockwork however.. pretty neat sculpture..
