Also Steve, if you think about it, this glass will have all sides having 1" of glass overlapping the inside of the tank to the epoxy paint. A glass tank only has the thickness of each pane, so this will have at least 4x the silly cone on each side sealing the glass to the sides of the epoxied wood. if my math is correct, that will be around 16x the amount of silly cone than a std glass tank.

And there will be a bead of silly cone on the outside of the frame, and the inside after the glass has been silly coned in.

Is this going to be an in-wall build, or is it going to sit just like a glass tank out in the open?

Without speaking for Tom, it will be an inwall.

Well, I am done until I get back from up north. I got even more done last night, and I think I have the bottom and all 4 corresponding 45 degree corners done. I have 2 thick layers of epoxy on the bottom of the tank. I may throw another coat on the bottom depending on how much epoxy I have left after I do the back, 2 sides front pane, underside and top of the eurobrace, and the four 45's

I have used up 1/4 of the epoxy I have on the bottom and it's four 45's alone, but the bottom is the biggest piece at 62"x 30".
The back is 24"x 62" with the 2 cut outs for the overflow. So that will take another 1/3 of a gallon probably.

After that, the sides will use the next most, but those are 30 x24 so between those 2, maybe another 1/3 of a gallon, which should leave me with about 2/3 of a gallon of epoxy for the 45's, the eurobrace, and the front. Each 24 or 30 inch 45 only needs a 4 oz single batch to make it 1/8" thick., and even the long 62" 45's only took a double 8oz batch to achieve that thick of a coat. I might have enough to coat the entire tank outside even. I will coat the back of the tank where the overflow goes well, but noting else on the outside is a big deal since I will have a gallon of the epoxy paint to coat the whole tank.

    LOL.

    I do too.

Here are some pics of my epoxy progress.

I got the left side done yesterday, and today I will have the right side of the tank covered. I might go back and add a layer to the corners and bottom/ sides once I get the entire tank covered.

I have still over half of the epoxy, and I have less than half the tank to do, but another coat on the sides and bottom will use a bit of epoxy. I have been mapping out how many ounces I use, and when for what piece, but that is pretty boring.

3/8 inch, and I have not yet decided whether to go low iron or not.

That reminds me, I need to call that other glass place up and see what they will quote me for regular and starfire.

off to the garage for more epoxy fun...
