    I think so.

fwiw, glass costs are all over the place around here.

The local place quoted me 80 dollars for a std plate glass with the edges dulled so I don't die while installing it, One place in MKE just quoted me $110 for the same plate glass- no low lead starfire at either place, and I am awaiting a call back quote for both starfire and std plate glass from the omnipotent Milwaukee store that at least carries starfire, and did not give me heck for asking about a piece of 5 foot x 22" glass in 3/8". Bob Lurie Glass has one rude person giving quotes.

Apparently the place that will call me back with the quote for starfire and std supplies all the local shops with their glass, so I should be cutting out the middle man. I will report back soon.

How heavy would the glass plate be? If it's light enough, you could simply have another person "bench press" lower the glass onto the landing zone. One person heaves the glass into the opening, the other lowers it down whie they are under the tank. I don't know how you'd have the tank where they could lower it down...a couple of sawhorses maybe. But that's the way I'd probably approach it if I was in your shoes.

Can't wait to see this thing built

No problem... I told you that the 1.5" were going to be monsters! I can't imagine you needing them!

    Back to my build progress.

Here is a pic of the front of the tank all ready for the glass. It does have the overflow box partially mounted on it. I need to epoxy paint the hole edges where I drilled the bulkheads in, then silicone it in.

And a pic from above looking into the overflow box with the 2 bulkheads attached.

I will get the overflow box completely mounted this week, and into the weekend. Next I have to figure the weir out, as in get a piece of acrylic and use the dremel or the router to cut the slots. Once that is done, I can silicone that to the back of the tank to get the water level where I want it.

Oh yeah, I need to get the stand 100% in place, and level.

Jwin, they make suction cups with handles that can lock on to the glass so he can lower it without getting his hands in the way. He might even be able to borrow a set from what ever company he gets the glass from. Or he could rent some from home depot.

I will simply have the tank raised off of the work surface, and I will use my hands to lower the glass in place.

This chunk o glass should only be maybe 50 lbs at most. That is probably an over estimate. I will see how heavy it really is when it gets here.

i'm still planning on running up this weekend (i'll give you a ring tomorrow) so if you need any heavy lifting that can wait, you've got an amply supply of force heading your way . btw, are you still on track for the BBQ deadline?

Man, awesome to see progress on this build. A big move including a tank meltdown kept me off for a while, looks like I have a bunch of pages to dig through :)

    Sounds good ZJ,

I am waiting on my glass, so no heavy lifting, unless you want to help me get the stand moved into it's final positioning. It is only a foot or so away, but any help you offer I will gladly accept.

Give me a jingle, what time were you thinking about ? I am free whenever on Sat.
