If you don't care about side viewing through your sump, yes, make a woody sump as well. When you make your own woody DT, making a woody sump is smart, especially to make the sump first so you get the process down pat for the DT. Just be sure to egt enough epoxy and epoxy paint:)

You can make a sight glass for sump level easily with 2 small bulkheads and a piece of clear PVC/ acrylic pipe or pvc tubing. Or you can make a glass panel for the front of the sump, or at least part of it.

Well Horkn I've spent a couple days following your thread and I am impressed with your total knowledge on a wood tank. You have the patience of a priest. This is the first time I've followed a thread on a woody and I've been entertained fully. You have an abundant amount of knowledge in plumbing and electricity which is a huge factor when doing something like this. I do have a question about the frag holder you have and wondering where can I get one?
I have a 210g AGA w/overflows, and I actually wanted a 180g AGA w/overflows but the fish store Big Al's were out of the 180's and gave discounts on the 210's. The length and depth of these tanks are identical the difference is the 210g is 29" high vs the 24" height of the 180. They made me a good offer and then I got a $30 discount because with the tank my card had more than $1,000 in actifity. Great place to buy a tank. Since this occured I have considered the extra swimming room in the tank for the tangs and my Asphur angel that it turned out to be better for me in the end.:cheesy: Well I thought my tank had a lot of work to do to set it up but now I feel like I did near nothing by comparison. All I can say is God bless you and may Santa Clauss treat you good this year! Keep the pics coming!!!

horkn i have a quick wrasse question. I got a mccosker flasher wrasse into my work today and it is beutiful It looks just like the one in this picture McCosker's Flasher Wrasse, Male review at Kaboodle. I really want it but I am affraid my six line and my tiger goby are going to bully it. I can get it from my work for $40. What do you think? also can I have multiple types of flashers and fairys in the 200G I am building? I would like a Lineatus Fairy Wrasse as well but have yet to see one at a LFS. May haft to special order one when i get my woody up and running

I wouldn't worry about the tiger goby but the six line might bully him, at least initially. Flashers are not the best wrasse at holding their ground and tend to get bullied alot especially by other lined wrasses or larger wrasse. I have also seen angels initially bully flashers as well.

If you are planning on adding multiple wrasses, just like tangs add them at once or close to all at once. Also, instead of all sorts of different wrasses have you even considered a harem of the same type? Then the male will color better and exhibit that flashing behavior...

Nice tank by the way Tom!!

I am with Doc frag on the wrasse thing. For 40 dollars to get one with colors like that, it is worth a try. That 6 line might be a jerk, or it might not. One bad thing is that flasher and fairy wrasses are not a very durable fish as far as handling bullies. Keep an eye on him and see if it works. At worst, get him in the sump and get him healthy and sell it off.

Heck, that twinspot tang I got the other day got a little bullied by my existing kole tang, but ow the kole does not care and the twin spot ate last night and is much more active than trying to hide out in the corner like it did the first night it was in the DT.

Thanks so much for the kind words marlinman! You have a lot of patience for reading my entire thread. At least I put in a lot of pretty pictures to keep it interesting. ;) Honestly I don't think there is a more thorough woody build on this site. I made sure to document everything, as I enjoy being thorough. If I wasn't, imagine how many more questions I would have to answer;)

Joe(doc frag), you still need to come over and see it all filled up:)

Not this week, I have had so many people over this week that Danielle is wondering when that will stop.

I don't have the heart to tell it it won't ever stop.

Yeah, I wish we could have spent more time talking with you two as well.

The BBQ is always a little hectic, especially if you are hosting it;)

Eh, we will meet up again. Maybe we can get you 2 to come to another upcoming meeting.
