Thanks for the kind words tigermike and divott!
That is an beautiful Bernese btw. We had a bernese/ lab mix until recently. She was a rescued dog and we think she was 14 if not older, so she had a good long life.

My attention to detail usually slows me down because I have to know everything about projects I start like this. I suppose I could only measure twice and cut once instead of measuring 10 times.

As the VP of the Wisconsin reef Society, and me hosting the meeting at my place on the 27th of September, I have a date to shoot for. Hopefully I will have the tank up and running for 4-6 weeks before that date. I have the 75g sump all ready, so once I get the tank complete and water tested in the garage, it can go in the basement and get cycling. I don't imagine I will have much if any cycle since I will use all my existing LR from my 90g, plus the tub of lr I have "baking" in SW with a heater and powerhead.

macgyver would definitely use paper clips and saran wrap;) Somehow he would use an old gym sock and the waistband from his underwear as well. LOL

I am thinking of putting a beer holder on the eurobrace in back by the overflow, for medicinal purposes of course. :)

Good karma to you for the rescue dog, along with the great work of course. I also had adopted a rescue dog, I tell you, they are the most loyal dogs you can find. They know when they are taken to be cared for...
Sorry for the loss, she had a long happy life with you though. :)
Attention to detail is a good thing, especially when you are talking about ~270 gallons of water. Heck, I make a little 10g fuge and I measure about 100 times before I cut. All it takes is 1/16" to make it a success or a watery failure you know.

Well, minus the 1 front support beam, and the 3/4" plywood for the top, I have the stand built. I will paint it, probably black or dark grey with an oil based paint. I was going to use 2 big pieces of my birch veneer 3/4 plywood joined together, but I thought it was a waste of nice wood when a cheaper sheet of BC or so will work just fine.

Here is the stand, already it is very strong, with 2x6's for the top, and 2x4s all other places with triple 2x4's in the corners. The back won't have a center support, but the front will. I want to have easy access to the 75g sump that will go underneath.

The stand's inside dimensions allow 24" inside to the top, and another height of the 2x6 if I need for my skimmer. Even if I want to change skimmers, I will have room since the tallest ones I see are like 28" tall. Even if I need to raise the skimmer to work better, I should have enough room to play with, otherwise I can offset the 75g sump so that the skimmer is not under the tank.

Here is another pic, with the tank on end next to it.

The tank is now all cleaned out, and all the excess glue has been razor bladed out and ready for epoxy.

Another pic of the stand. I think it will hold the nearly 200g better than the milk crates LOL.

Looks good! Are you gonna do a water seal before you paint it? Best prevention of water rot IMHO. :)

I have a bunch of Zinnser BIN primer, so that with the paint on top should keep the stand dry.

Here is what I got done today..

Ok, now I am officially ready to epoxy, here are my stands to hold the tank at the 45 degree angles while I am epoxying the cornerpieces inside the tank..

and then in use, with a heavy box filled with packing peanuts, LOL.

For the tall way when I do the side corners, I will have a ratchet strap hanging from the rafters in the garage. otherwise the brackets probably would not have enough "base" to keep it up right.

Very nice. Propper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

This is gonna be a beast.

    I have started to epoxy!!!!

I only did the inside of my overflow box, so I felt that I did not do enough to warrant a picture. Hopefully Tomorrow I will get more accomplished.
