So my tank has been up for about 2 weeks and cycled. I added a few hermits friday and there doing great. I'm thinking next weekend I'll add my first fish. I need some suggestions. I was thinking Yellow watchman gobi? I plan on a pair of OC. clowns but don't think they should be the first fish introduced to my DT. I'm open to suggestions ... Thanks in advance

Figure out which fish you want to have and make sure they are compatible with each other and your tank size. Add the least aggressive fish first then slowly add the more aggressive fish from least to most aggressive. The Goby would be a good start I think.

    Two weeks?

    Did you use a product?
Did you use live fully cured rock?

Personally I would not add fish to a 2 week old tank.

    Parameter please.

Not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to assist you in avoiding new tank syndrome.

I've decieded on a goby, a pair of clowns and a small wrasse of some kind. I'm just not sure of the kind of goby. I want something colorful, hence the watchman but I'm open to other suggestions in that family.

Figure out which wrasse as it will make a difference in when you want to add it. If it is a sixline you might want to add it last.

The help is appreciated actually. I didn't use any product. I added live sand and 7lbs of live rock with about 20lbs of dry rock. ghost fed the tank for 3-4 days. Ammonia spiked to 1.0 after 4 days ... then nitrite to between .5 and 1.0 ... nitrate levels were elevated but not much, Had a good diotom (sp.?) bloom that has since died back .... has been at 0 for 3 days now. Ph is around 8 or so. I've been ghost feeding the tank since the hermits were added Friday (a friend of mine gave them to me) and no ammonia spikes. Thoughts?

Gonna skip the 6 line ... I think they can be jerks. I was thinking about a yellow fin flasher wrasse (Paracheilinus flavianalis ) or a 4 line wrasse (Pseudocheilinus tetrataenia) ... Again I'm open to suggestions.

The four line you mentioned has as much or more aggression than the six line. I would go with the flasher.

Sounds like you have a good handle on it.

Just stock slowly (which seems like your intention), do not overfeed , this is very important.

Make sure you have mixed SW available to do a water change and monitor your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate level.

I agree with all the above. That is a quick cycle, but sounds like it may have completed. Make sure you read up on new tank syndrome as corrailine suggested, and when you do add your first fish, have a WC ready in case you do get spikes and monitor daily for a week. Then wait a few weeks at least to add another fish if not a month.

I'd highly rec against a 6line wrasse for a small tank with 2 clowns, 6lines can be MEAN;(

I'd start with a yellow watchman/pistol shrimp pair if your sandbed is deep enough

then the wrasse(depending on species,I'd ask evolved whats best on this thread http://www.3reef.com/forums/tropical-fish/all-about-reef-safe-wrasses-122261.html)
    Filamented Flasher Wrasse

    then the clowns

    good luck

Edit; looks like I took too long typing that up, lol
