Thanks, I'm gonna mix up some water in a 5 gallon bucket with a power head and a heater and just let it sit. Can I just keep it in my basement for a day or 2?

No worries. I'm interested in the pistol shrimp idea? I don't have much of a sand bed (2 inches or so)? I know they and the goby have a symbiotic relationship.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yes you can keep it longer actually. If you can cover it after it's completely mixed that would be help as well. Just use the power head to agitate it prior to using.

Larger tanks are more forgiving, newer smaller tanks dealing with a much smaller volume of water need to be watched a little more closely when first adding any live stock.

Ok. SO I can get some ro/di water in a 5 gallon bucket, add my salt agitate for a day or so then put a lid on tight. Add my heater and a powehead a few hours before I'm ready to do my WC and match temp and I'm good to go?

As far as the larger tank I'm working on that :) I have a 29 gallon laying around that I may use for a sump to increase the amout of water I have.

I'd just keep the PH in it to keep it nice and mixed up, that way you ensure its at the right salinity

Thanks. Gonna pick up another powerhead for that purpose. I have an old 29 gallon tank I might use to house water for water changes. Figure I can mix water, store it there and perhaps use it as a QT tank for new inhabitants.
