Hey guys and Gals, I have a 29 gallon salt water tank in the cycle Phese for about a week now with some LR. what would be a good first fish and when shoud it be added? I would love to add some frags and corral but I hear i should wait quite som timee for that. I put a piece of raw shrimp in my tank today to help with the cycle...

If you put a piece of raw shrimp in, then I wouldn't add any fish until your cycle is over. People either use a fish to cycle or go with the shrimp method but not both. A good first fish after the cycle would be something like a damsel, chromis, or clownfish. Do you have a test kit?

Damsels are cheap and a lot of people use them. If your not planning on keeping them in the tank after the cycle use a piece of raw shrimp if you cant trade the damsel in after cycle.

After waiting out the cycle,I would go with a small clownfish and avoid adding a fish you really wouldnt want long term.In a 29gal. your going to be limited to just a few fish.

my first fish was a percula clown...they are hardy...just make sure they cycle completes first. wait for coral. you need to go through the algae stages.

My first fish was a clown and he made it through the beginnings of the tank like a champ. If you want a clown, then I would say add the clown first. They are very hardy and a lot of fun!
