    The foam buildup is from the sand. It'll go away.

    Oh yeah, that was one of the first I went through with a fine tooth comb.

    Right now I just get to practice my patience waiting for the 'fog' to clear from my tank. I think I probably could have done a better job of getting the water in the tank without stirring up so much sand.

    WOOHOO! I can start to see my rock now (of course, now I also realize I'm going to need alot more rock! LOL)

    I mixed instant ocean salt with my water and then filled the tank, how long before I should start testing the water? Of course just messing around I used the hydrometer and it just barely gets the needle off the bottom, nowhere near the 1.020-1.024 range it 'says' it should be.

    Do I worry about this now or just wait a few days?

    IMHO

    once the water is to temp i would test the salinity again and if it is still low slowly add more salt until it reaches you desired level.
    i am still new myself but this is what i was instructed by the ones helping me along

    Ok, pics inbound.
    just filled, +12 hours and +24 hours.

    Salinity only 1.015 right now, temp 79 - havent tested anything else yet.
