1st test results looking for some input

    Hello guys it has been about a week since I purchased a preowned tank with some live rock and sand and 15 gallons of the water that was in the tank
    I put in about another 12gallons of salt water here are my results after leaving the tank running for about 4 days

    8/01 set up tank ,no filter
    8/5 got new filter installed
    8/5 tested with my new test API MASTER TEST
    Nitrite 0 Ammonia 0 HP 8.4 Nitrate 20 see images
    8/6 tested for Calcium 460
    8/6 I brushed lightly rocks and wall to remove some of the green hair algae
    8/6 I drained about 5 gallons and put in 5 fresh water

    Hi, and welcome to 3Reef!

    Looking good so far. :) FWIW, it's fairly common for a tank to not cycle when it's moved with established sand and rock. Good luck!

    At least on my monitor, it looks like you have some ammonia. With the API kits, any hint of color usually indicates there is something there. IME, there is a bit of ammonia. Typically, as mentioned though, using LR, LS etc... significantly reduces the cycle. I would still wait to make sure it's stable though. Also, probably better if you can get the nitrate to 0. In a relatively stable new tank, that should be pretty easy.
