Anybody use this tubing and what size? Which clamps work best as well? Ball valve on return side?

Running a proflex sump and need line for return, looking into a Tunze 1073.020 pump, heard best to heat up tubing and slip on pump/barb.

Should I run as in side too or use hose that comes with aqueon Proflex sump?

Just trying to be ready once sand and overflow kit get here.

I use the braided line on my reef. Put a ball valve on the discharge side of the return pump to fine tune flows if needed. Often the tubing is snug enough you won't need any hose clamps, I soak the end of the tubing in boiling or very hot water then slip it over the barbed nipple and it is very secure. If it does require a hose clamp use the nylon type underwater but stainless hose clamps are OK above the water line.

Do I need any glue for the ball valve or how do those match up? What size did you use? Megaflow kit should be here this week!

I always use threaded fittings and bulkheads so for the valve you would need two barbed nipples to attach it to the tubing. Another thing I try to do is to sep up one size in the diameter or the tubing and fittings to acocunt for the smaller inside diameter of the barbed nipples and fittings. This reduces the headloss on the pump so it will pump more. If my pump has a 3/4" discharge I go up to 1" and so forth.
Rather than a megaflow kit I would build your own DIY standpipe such as the Stockman or Durso. There are dozens of designs and ideas for standpipes and after trying several I like the Stockman the best for flow and quietness.

Canopy done and Pump is on its way, so just making a plumbing list for the weekend. Flex or spa flex, unions, ball valve clamps for flex if desired. Most likely 3/4&quot; or 1&quot; ID? THE sump came with a in line so just need return.<br/>

Looking at flex tubing on return side, will 3/4 ID work? Thinking of barb and ball valve as well. Would 3/4&quot; be okay there too? Trying to gather parts to do Thanksgiving weekend!

Found 1&quot; nylon clamps on amazon as well.

AZ- I have a jebao dc6000 so how would I step up in the above situation? Amazon only has the 1" hose clamps as the 1 1/4 are out of stock
