The tank was fully cycled within about 3 weeks, bought it about 5 weeks ago.

My test kits arn't that old, had them about 8 months.

I have ordered a new Nitrate kit though.

Anyone know of a better and easier way to test water params than those liquid kits (where you add drops to some tank water and measure the colour)?

I have one of these for Ammonia which is great:

    Seachem. Ammonia Alert

There's a pH one for freshwater - http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/pHAlert.html anyone know if it would work in salt? (i'm guesing no, which is a shame, becuase i'd buy it).

And yes they definately died, I even picked them up and they didn't move. No movement whatsoever.

Was you tank new or used.... cause if it was used the person before you could have adder a copper treatment and it could be leaching into the tank.

    Good luck

Cleaners are very sensitive to coppers and any other strange metals from tap water. Make sure your not using tap...if so, probably your culprit. Do you have any snails in the tank? If so, then probably not copper as snails are supposedly more sensitive to copper. My guess would be your water source.

*My first tank I started as tap and I added a cleaner....died within a couple days and my parameters were perfect. Started using RO water and haven't had a problem since.

Also with dripping so long you're adding salt water to salt water.

If it isn't parameters you may want to look at hypersalinity being the culprit.

???? How else would you drip? You drip from the DT (Saltwater) to the bag (Saltwater) to get the salinity of the bag the same as the DT. It wont go higher than the DT. Now you can run into ammonia problems as the PH goes up in the bag water, the ammonia in the bag gets more toxic.

I too had to read whippys post twice...not sure what she was talking about. Dripping your saltwater into a saltwater bag will help acclimate the fish to your salinity. Thats what your supposed to do. I think she just read the thread wrong or something.

No it was a brand new tank.

I will test for copper and see if that's the problem.
