    yeh, still very hard to tell. But looks like some kind of encrusting coral. Have you browsed through something like "Aquarium Corals". It has a pretty decent picture archive for id's. Unfortunately I dont think it'll be possible to id from the current pics. See if your local lfs has a copy of "Aquarium Corals" that you can browse through at the shop.
