if they have that many in a tank then thats why theyre not fighting. if i put 50 damsels in a 30 gallon tank they wouldnt have any time to develop a territory and no time to protectr it. theyll just kind of blindly live side by side.

You cannot go by what the LFS does or has in one tank. You have to take in to account that those fish don't stay in the tanks for very long. If you were to snag a male and a female, it may work out for you. I would go with a green clown goby personally. I am a fan of the red pattern they have on their faces.

plus one to this, in the lfs the fish are still recovering from being shipped and the last thing they are worrying about is protecting their territory and fighting with the others. but if you put 4 of them in a small nano they will definately fisht

Yeah, like I said above, the LFS is putting fish in tanks to sell them, not because of compatibility. An lfs I went to put a shark and an imperator angel in a 90 and the shark got it eyes eaten. Fish a randomly put into cubes based on size mostly, so seeing 2 fish at an lfs in the same cube does not mean they are compatible.

I know your wanting a fish, but I wouldn't put one in your nano tank. It's not going to have near the water volume it says once it's filled with sand, heater, rocks, filters hose, etc. I would go with a really nice shrimp. Pistol Shrimps are always awesome to watch.
