I have a 40g tank and I am looking into replacing the lights on it. Would 2 150w MH Pendants work and just add some leds and hang everything would that work okay? Tank background/direction Mixed reef a clam little down the road. Thinking SPS blue 14k bulbs any opinions? Tank was formally packleaders 40 still using the lights he gave me but a couple weeks ago the MH glass cover shattered found something very similar to what I have right now on ebay and they are saying 50 for the glass replacement I also have to replace all bulbs and if I keep this light I am getting a hanging kit a total of 210 for everything just not worth it IMO. Changed to a swc hob skimmer.

I run 2 150s over my 55. I just have the pendants and nothing else. The glass shouldn't be much at all. On most pendants, it's about $15. If you really wanted to, you could try to get some low-e glass cut to your needs.

I tried low e cracked a couple minutes after I turned the MH on. You would be surprised I have called everyplace in town looking for a piece of glass cheapest piece that would work is 50. You are not using any night lights? If you where to how would you do it cause I think moon lights are a must I like watching my tank at night.

I like it a lot exactly what I was going for!

honestly at height of around 6-8 inches and no squirting fish I wouldn't bother covering mogul halides.
