    Hello,

    So I run my 55g with 2 lights on top, a Power Compact Coralife 65 watt (50/50 - 10,000k/Blue Actinic) and another Coralife 48" 110 watt T5 (2 bulbs again, 50/50).

Its time to change the bulbs out in both...

I was gonna keep the 110 watt as a 50/50, but with the smaller 65 watt, should I keep it 50/50 or go all 10,000k, all actinic or something else? What would you do?

If all is well and you like what you see then don't change.

All is well, it breaks down to total wattage

    1/3rd lighting Actinic (54 watts)
    1/3rd lighting 10000k (54 watts)
    -> 1/3rd (65 watt) ???

    I guess my question is...

That last 3rd of the total wattage is the smaller light, and given the option to favor one type of lighting over the other to a degree, do coral's 'prefer' a bit more Actinic, or a bit more 10000k or anything like that?

For the most part, corals prefer that the lighting not be changed unless they're unhappy with what they already have. IOW, if your corals are opening and showing good colors and growth, it might be a mistake to alter the light they're receiving.

    So...

I replaced the 50/50 65 watt with an all Actinic Blue,
And replaced the 50/50 108 watt with 10,000k only

    Before, I had
    84 watts Actinic
    84 watts 10,000k

    Now its a

    65w Actinic
    108w 10,000k

This setup seems to work a lot better... Now I have an extra 24 watts of 10,000k to actually grow stuff better; And since the Actinic is all in one light now, I can actually seperately turn on and off the 'moonlighting', which leads to a friggen beautiful tank at 'dawn' and 'dusk' (in my tank, 12pm and 12am respectively - I'm a night owl...)
