Set it up as exactly as the instructions say! The check valve is crap and it will fail if it's not standing straight up and down. Even then it will fail given time. I've back siphoned Ms. Wage into my ATO reserve 2X now with this stirrer. It's come down to soaking the check valve in vinegar overnight once a month.

When you need to get new check valves you can find them here. TLF will only replace 1.

I'm going to mod mine with a small pump on a loop and eliminate the need for a check valve. Other than that I love mine.

Great advice, I will diff keep my eye out. Just finished putting it together and setting it up. Awesome. Looks great with my 2 phos 150's... I love symmetry with equipment. Now, time to see these corals GROWWWW....

dingo, having the same issue. so frustrating. please explain the loop plans... mine is simply siphoning back half the water volume of the reactor and for some reason my jbj top off stops pumping after a few minutes soooooo. I need to reset it with the side switch 2-3 times to have it fill and top off. Hardly ATO at this point. Great design, crap check valve. Just like 2 little fishies elbow joints. great products with annoying flaws.

I'll see if I draw something up in paint. I don't think I can really describe it without visual.

Ok I'll see if I can explain what's going on.

I'll add a 3/4" Uniseal thru a hole and run a pipe in. On the end of the pipe will be a 3/4" union. The other half of the union will be attached to the MJ 1200.

The outflow of the MJ is already 1/2" so I'll just run a hose up to it and the stirrer.

I'll have to add a new in flow from the ATO so I'm thinking another 1/2" uniseal with a pipe and 1/2" barb. It will definitely be higher than in the picture. I'll probably add it just under the rim of the lid so there is a siphon break as soon as the water stops flowing in.
