I've attached a picture of my tank that was born on 6/20. I think it's looking good, but then I don't really know what I'm looking at. Hoping to get some opinions.

Also, on the glass, there is what I assume to be algae growing, but it has a pattern to it. If you look in the background of the picture of Pierre, you can faintly see the pattern. Any ideas?

lol the patern was caused by snails moving over the algae and eating it.you do have snails right?also red diatom is fairly common in new tanks and goes away.

Hi Linda! Tank looks nice and is coming along nicely! Target feed the Gorgonia as it is NOT symbiotic so lighting is of little importance to it!
    Best of luck!

I've got him swayin in the breeze and he seems happiest there. When I get home at night, all the little polyps are stickin out -- lookin for somethin to eat, I imagine. I feed him phytoplankton every other day, which is the button polyps and the star polyps get, too, and everyone seems to be doing nicely so far (knock on wood). But, tell me more about the target feeding.

Also, I have a blue tang - just a little itty bitty guy cause I wanted him to be around the same size as the clown (I've re-created Nemo and his friends at home for my 6 year-old -- he thinks it's cool). I read something at 3R about feeding them seaweed on a clip? Do I have that right? Right now all I feed everyone is about 1/4 of a frozen mysis shrimp cube (defrosted, with the water drained), but starting to get the impression that I should start providing some variety. Any suggestions?

Just a few more questions. 1. What would the optimum temp. be for both the fish and the coral to live healthy and happy lives together? 2. Should I begin testing for anything other than the standard stuff (such as mag, etc.)? 3. Should I be adding supps? Strontium? Iodine?

Thanks. I wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as I have without the great advise from 3R!

Crappyballer -- thanks for the link. At one point, the base of the gorg. was buried in the sand and noticed that the polyps weren't coming out. Once I unburied it, it sprang right back. BTW, I've got it rubber-banded to a piece of live rock. He also looks better than when I saved him from the LFS! But, everyone tells me that he won't last -- I'll give it a helluva try! Thanks again.
