i have a 75 gal reef. Hate the koralias. I feel like they just dont get the job done.

I was thinking an mp40, but then thought maybe 2 mp10s would be better because they can comunicate and work together and do like reef crest mode?

    any thoughts?

i have 2 1050 evos and 2 750 evos on a hydor smartwave maker. So i can sell all that to help with cost. Would start with 1 mp10 on 1 side and 2 1050s on other side. Then sell the wavemaker and 2 750s. Then after i get the other mp10 sell the rest. Or maybe keep them for another tank or as back up.

    What direction would be best?

Interested in this topic too. Starting fresh so nothing to replace but I'd also like to know everyone's thoughts on 2 MP10's for a 75g. The numbers seem to work out on paper but... Interested in real life experiences.

2 mp10, and then hook your return up to a sea swirl , You will get incredible flow patterns.
Id place one mp10 on either end crank em up and toss the sea swirl in the middle. Lol thats what i use and the flow pattern is constantly changing in every direction in my tank, the sea swirl for a return, i dont know why i ever went with a non rotating return before.

keep old equipment, those pumps are awesome to use for mixing salt, hospital or qt tank, if you set up a frag tank etc... we are always changing our minds about our setup.

but yea ok so think i will go with the 2 mp10s. Easier to get started with 1 at a time anyways :)

Hey I have a 90 pretty much same dimensions as your 75. I had 8 powerheads in mine and I got rid of them. I first got 1 mp40w which gave me good flow but to take advantage of the reefcrest mode of wave mode you really need 2 so I got another which I will be installing this weekend. They are both wireless so they will communicate. I recommend the 40, the mp10 won't have enough power to push water the long ways of the tank (4') but they are recommended for lengths of 2 feet or shorter. If you are putting them on the back of the tank (18") then your fine. IMO I would go with the MP40W. I know the price is steep but it is well worth it. Actually after I figure out how much I spent on the original powerheads I kicked myself pretty hard because I should have just gotten the MP the first time out. Oh well you live and learn.

i just got 2 mp10's for my 75. if they are both cranked it will be plenty. @1575x2= 3150gph. divide that by 75 gallons and you get 42x turnover. thats a decent rate. plus you can expect some decent flow from your return as well. the ecotech products have a wonderful flow capacity and when synched together they are awesome. i vote 2 mp10's!

what is your return pump putting out after head loss? mine is about 900gph at the tank. to me thats like adding another powerhead. some say dont count return flow.... but to me 900 gph is still 900 gph of flow in the tank.

its a sicce 3.0 with about 4ft head loss. Not much after it goes through my 2 3/4 in lock line split. lol maybe i will start with an mp10 for now, then get an mp40 later on and do the slave mode thing?

i feel like koralias are way underrated, i put my hand in front of them at it feels like they are moving nothing! so disappointed in them.

    I have a 120g- 48x24x24
I have two mp40's running together on reef crest or NT mode. Opposite side I have an mp10 and a mp20. For my return I utilize a sea swirl on a reeflo blowhole.

This combination works wonders. But there is a fine line between having "barely enough" and having "enough". OP, I would recommend a mp40 and a mp10. They can still communicate with each other this way.
