2 New Carpet Anenomes

Hello everyone:

These are my two new Carpet Anenomes. Just got them 2 days ago and they are the first Carpet anenomes I have ever had. I bought them from a person from craigslist that was taking down his tank. Paid 85 for the two. I got stung really bad not knowing this could happen handling them. I was wanting to get some tips from the experianced keepers about feeding them and any other good tips to keep in mind to help me make them happy in their new home. All help is appreciated, please.

How often do I feed them and what?
Should I soak their food in Boyds Vitachem like I do for my fish?
What is the ideal temp for these? I have heard they like 80-83 degrees. Think I read that here somewhere?
Are these considered hard specimines to keep? I also read that they were on Liveaquaria.com.

BEAUTIFUL! Be prepared to lose fish and motile inverts though. I had one eat (and later barf up) 3 beautiful tangs in my tank before I finally gave it up. The only thing they require is pristine water and adequate lighting. You can feed it meaty foods as often as you see fit. If it's not hungry, it'll spit up the food. I had no problem keeping the anemone as it did well in my tank.

 

The blue one is beautiful. They are easy to care for. I have gone months without feeding them, with no harm. When I do feed, it's usually pieces of silversides or some kind of cut up meaty food. My green one is hosted by a maroon clown. I have 4 fish all of which have learned to avoid it... Except for the clown

Oh no I cant lose my fish. The guy did warn me that small fish like dragonets and gobys will probably be a meal but I asked if my tang would be ok and he said he thought so but after I hear this from you im worried about my fish!!

Very nice additions. They will eat anything they can catch. You got a good deal on them though, if nothing else see if your lfs will trade them for you.

 

Be very careful with the blue one, it's venomous and might be harmful to you. Be very careful cleaning the tank.

Did I mention that the blue one is rare! Nice! They look real healthy. Good find.

 

Absolutely beautiful... If you decide not to keep them, for whatever reason. I will buy them from you plus shipping charges. I have 16 tanks of clownfish only tanks with corals and anemones, so they would make great additions to my setups. Otherwise, you made a good buy and if your willing to put up with them, they're beautiful. GL

 

Like LVReefer said, they will kill anything that they can catch. They won't necessarily eat it but by the time the anemone decides to yak it up uneaten, the fish is long gone.
