Hey everybody. Right now I'm seriously considering tearing down my 24 gallon and moving everything to my 75 gallon. Right now the 24 houses a royal gramma and a pair of orange O. Clowns. The issue here is that my 75G houses a pair of small black O. Clowns already, and I'm really worried that the 2 pairs may end up fighting and potentially killing each other. The orange clowns are probably 2" now, and around 3 years old, my black clowns are about 1" each and are only about 7-8 months old. I really don't want to have to get rid of my orange clown pair, they were my first ever saltwater fish and Iv kinda become attached to them both. Is there any way this would work :( thanks!

Not likely to end well I'm afraid. :(

If it were me I'd consider splitting up the pairs and swapping them over so I end up with one orange and one black... then trade in the extra 2 at the LFS. But I'm biased as I like mixed up clown pairs. :)

Add them young, separate them in QT and add them at the same time it may work, but unlikely. More likely they will fight to the death.

even if you use this method you will probably have a 10 percent chance success rate, just take your favorite pair and trade in the other pair to the lfs for some other cool fish. best way to handle the situation.

You wont know until you try. Ive got 2 oc clowns(both about an inch) with a 3.5" tomato clown in my 55 and there has been no fighting what so ever. I adopted the tomato clown and originally had the fish in different tanks. After the girlfriend complaining I decided to give it a try, it has been a while with them in the same tank and not one fight so far. You can try it but it may not work out. Just make sure you keep an eye on them.

    Tomato clownfish get 6 - 6 1/2 inches at max, not 3 1/2 - 4 inches.

I'm not sure as to the effectiveness of this, but hear me out. I used to keep beta fish. They are known to be extremely aggressive with one another. I tried to put a pair in a small tank, this did not work. I then placed a clear panel in the tank to separate the fish... In essence I was assigning each beta to their own territory. The fighting never happened again. I am not sure as to how viable this is, or even if it would work for you. Just thought I would share an experience I had with an aggressive fresh water variety. good luck.
