The first one that died on me was living in my tank for close to a year and in another tank I had for almost a year as well eating the same stuff, no different tank mates etc. I f-in confused! I truthfully don't know if it's worth quarantining your guy since the stress of losing its home may just kill it alone if it's already on its way out BUT if you want to do the humane thing, may want to put him out quickly to stop the suffering. With my first, he seemed to live a lot longer than the 2nd - he was dead within 3 hrs!

see now I would assume the jawfish would do this since it is always moving the substrate within its burrow. I also have a good amount of nassarius snails to keep the bed stirred up as well

yea i have a few too....im totally just grasping for any kind of answer. Im also really mad because it took me FOREVER to find this guy. They don't stock them regularly at my LFS and haven't seen one there since i got mine about 4 months ago (maybe 5 months, i forget).

first one died in the burrow and the snails got to him before I could - second died right in front of his burrow so I was able to get it out quickly

I hear that! They are not good shippers as I have tried to get them from liveaquaria and never had any luck getting them to acclimate for some reason. Store bought seem to be stronger at least in my experience.

oh and yesterday was when he wasn't coming out and didn't eat, the day before he was fine. And today was when he had his head poked out breathing weird. It was around 11 a.m. when i saw him.
