is 2 VorTech MP40's to much for a 75gal or would one mp40 and mp10 do the job?

You can control the flow on the all the vortech's right, so I wouldnt think 2 mp40s would be too much, I have a 75 g as well and im only running one mp40 and its awesome!

That's a lot. I have one on a 93 and only keep it at about 75% output... They are much stronger pumps than equivalently rated pumps from other brands. In other words 500gph from a vortech may be like 1000gph from brand X. If I had all SPS 2 might be ok, but my LPS corals aren't always thrilled about 1 LOL.

one is plenty. Get two smaller ones if you want to sync them. Sure you can turn down MP40.... but why buy two times the pump you need? Expensive pumps at that.

2 mp10s would probably be good. Or just go with an MP40, you can always add another MP40 or even an MP10 latter if you think you still need it.

Another thing to mention on the MP40 vs the koralias is the koralias can be directed more. So, you can have lower flow in some areas and higher flow in others. With the MP40, it's more ubiquitous. There is no escaping the flow ;D There is actually slight differences in flow in some areas, but not as much. This is good and bad. It does a really good job of eliminating dead spots, but also can make it tougher to arrange corals. The one exception seems to be directly under it. There is a bit of a "dead-er" spot. This is actually where I keep my "soft-coral corner". I think they would be torn apart anywhere else.

Ive got two MP-10w's on my 90 gallon and they create good flow throughout the tank. Especially when you get them synced. It's well worth the $$
