I think that detritrus (sp) can be a very, very bad thing in terms of nitrate. My hypothesis is the sock cleaning that caused the spike. How high is sky high?

Id say 40-60 but i got it down to 20-40 with a 20gallon water change. Im going to give it a few days and then do another to get it down more. Would thisvsudden nitrate spike cause this cloudyness and my corals to react the way they are?

I would say yes.....but I would think it will be short-lived. I might add some carbon....those nitrate levels are not outrageous and things can live in it for a short period, they won't thrive though. I would consider that your levels will come right back down with your planned water change. JMO I have a read a ridiculous amount about nitrate LOL
