I have a 2 yr old DIY Rapid fixture, see pic below. It is a 36 dimmable kit from rapid, and 12 of the Royal blues are currently blown. I don't know how or why, but they blew a year ago and I never replaced them. Tested the driver on other strings and it seems to be fine, can't explain it. Anyways, this is going on my long nano build which can be seen HERE. The Leds currently are 12 CW, 18 RB, and 6 NW. I'm looking for some suggestions on how to change this. Currently my thoughts are this:

    Remove 6 of the CW's.
Run 6 NW and 6 CW on one driver (White String)
Buy 12 RB and run them on the 2nd driver (Blue String)
Use the 3rd driver to run exotic LEDS.
Maybe 3 Hyper Violets, 3 Deep Reds, 3 Cool Blues, 3 Turquoise

Quick pic. I have a Typhoon controller and 3 dimmable drivers.

I guess I should have mentioned I'm not adding another driver. So that is out of the question. And I'm not really sold on the OCW's, has anyone here actually used them? Do you have experience with them?

    Hmmm.....
OCW's are great cause they tend to remove the spotlight effect.

They don't state what the three diodes are as far as spectrum. Do you have them?

OCW's are usually CB, cyan, and DR, sometimes you can customize them, in that case I'd replace the DR with WW

I'm guessing you don't have personal experience with the OCW's since you didn't say otherwise. But after reading a thread on nano reef where led groupbuy was responding on there explaining what exactly they are, now I'm leaning towards them. They said they just took deep red, turquoise, and cool blue diodes and threw them on the same board.

I'm kinda with you to a point. The difference between NW and CW was pretty minimal to my eye, but the NW was definitely slightly warmer. I don't have experience with WW but I would only use them as accents. I like a combo of CW and NW and since I already have enough, I'm going to do 6 of each. Running strictly CW and RB washes everything out really bad IMO.

If you're going to add red/deep red I would probably stick with cool white instead of neutral white. For most people the only benefit neutral white adds is incorporating more of the red/green spectrum, as from a purely aesthetic standpoint people tend to look the cool look much better than the warm (yellow). Having said that, the difference between neutral and cool white is very slight (usually only about 1,000K).

Since UV/Violet looks less bright than other LEDs I'd consider adding more of those as well, we feel it gives the overall look a nice pop and purple color. I'd suggest 4-5 of the UV if you can fit that into your array.

Just as a personal preference, I'd say 2 turquoise/cyan would be enough for a 36 LED array.

Thank you for replying. You just made up my mind on where I'm buying from again. Love your customer service.

So maybe 2 deep red, 2 turquoise, 2 blue, and 6 uv?
