Im finally getting some solid plans together for my 20 gallon seahorse tank. Ill be housing them in a 20 tall with limited live rock in the bottom for some bio filtering and an internal fuge with mud some rock and of course macro algae. For a light Ill be using a PC lighting fixture with moonlights for nighttime viewing. Im going to be planting some red mangrove plants in it for them to hang on. I should have water in tomorrow and probably sand and a damsel next week. Any suggestions are welcome

Im planning on using mud in the in tank fuge. Im also planning on planting most the aquarium. Should I use mud for the whole thing to give the plants better growth or should I use sand or CC in the display?

Just remember that planted tanks need more light than seahorses themselves need.
Higher light and smaller tanks usually mean higher tank temperatures which then in turn means higher bacterial growth that sickens/kills the seahorses many times.
Try to keep tank temperatures at 74°F or less.

Thats the problem Im still trying to wrap my mind around. Im looking at purchasing a 120 watt double PC with moonlights. Still waiting to here back if it has cooling fans or not. If it does not I may just get a hang on the back fuge and put lower lighting on the main tank to keep temps down. I think Ill go with mud for the entire thing. Should give it a very interesting look.

There have been reports on the main seahorse forum, of seahorse problems from scraping their tails along the coarse substrate.
