Ok, here is the situation. I got tired of the cyano problem in my tank and decided to use some Chemi-Clean. Those who are familiar with the product know that you need to do a 20% water change after 48 hours. Well, my time has come. Question is, do I change it all at once, or replace some..circulate and repeat? I'm just about to start so a quick reply would be a good thing! [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

    Thanks again!

A single 20% change would be fine.

Now, if only my skimmer would settle down..geez...foam city!

I have to agree with the good reviews on Chemi-Clean. I've avoided the stuff for awhile, but it seems to do a great job. I saw a few pods suffering, but as a whole, things look pretty good.

Ya time to keep a real close eye on your skimmer cup. Even my poor Berlin Classic went nuts and it never work :)

My skimmer should be able to take care of itself. The massive collection cup on the thing has a drain in the bottom. If that isn't enough, it is designed to pull air through the venturi from the collection cup. Worse case, it starts to re-circulate the stuff in the skimmer with almost no chance of overflowing.

Kinda hard to explain, here's a pic (it's the one on the left)

Wow GraviT. That is some skimmer. ARe you able to put it under your cabinet. I didn't know if it would be too tall or not. I bet it does a great job for you.

I had a cyano problem for awhile. I added two power heads and that took care of it.

No, it doesn't fit, but my sump doesn't either! I'ts all on a platform I built behind my tank and stand. It actually doesn't look too bad because the tank is in between my entertainment center, and a odd corner formed by my laundry room on the other side of the wall. It definitely gets the job done! [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I tried the power head route and currently have 4 of them in the tank..it helped, but didn't make it go away. My biggest problem was using an additive that caused a massive outbreak that just wouldn't die by other means. After several weeks of breaking it up, and power head relocation, I gave up and used the Chemi-Clean.

that small (and what can I say...bad!) skimmer on the right looks like my old Queen Venturi. Big one looks mean and great.

Many people swear by using additives. I prefer the old and tiresome ways (frequent water changes, good sand bed, excellent circulation, etc.). Old ways might not be for everyone though. And since additives worked for you then congrats!
