It's pretty heavy but I can lift it myself. I just don't think it would be a very smart thing to try to do it yourself because it is VERY long. I LOVE the way it looks though.. I am :) with it!!

I prefer to have the lights hung. I think its easier to work on or in the tank w/o having to worry about them falling. But with your ceiling being lowered it would be difficult to hang them above the lower ceiling so it would be strong enough to hold.

Yeah, this was what I was thinking. Hopefully when we move this summer, our house will have "normal" ceilings. lol I hate drop ceilings.

Well my other half is home finally. We are trying to get into the light to get the halides in the slots right. Two of them weren't. It's a real pain in the butt to do. I don't know how you would change the bulbs, I can't slide the glass and plastic pieces to easily and they don't budge after the second piece. I opened the other side and that side is even less movable. I have a question on the lights. There is a rubber band type thing around the metal brackets holding the light bulbs in, are these supposed to be removed before using? The bulbs aren't in too well if they are removed. I removed them and my better half says he thinks something should be on there to hold it in place. ????????????

If they're like silicone rubber bands, they are used to hold the actual light bulb in after you insert it. There should be a bracket the bulb goes in between, then the band goes over the bracket.

My light still has them bands attached also. So I think you should leave them. Dont touch the mh with your skin, use a paper towel.
