The wife is leaning towards an Invert only tank. My ? is, is this possible at all in such a small environment. I think it would be cool, but will it be a healthy environment and will it work with no fish? Any ideas and suggestions would be much welcomed.

I think that it's doable. You just have to keep up with water changes and make sure everything stays as stable as possible. (20 gallon isn't THAT small..) but I think it's good when people want a small tank to keep it invert only. Coral/Shrimp/etc don't really care how much water is around them..as long as it's good water
