I'm curious, in a FOLWR system with no coral inserts...how do you make the rock look more appealing?

The aquascape is beautiful, I just mean the color of base rock is tough on the eyes

You don't. You let coralline algae take to it.

personally i think rock looks way better than any coral insert haha. but you know reefs make up a very very small portion of all the worlds oceans. many places it is just this.... rocks. haha

of course over time they will become more appealing with algae and corrailine.

So in a system like this you would run a proper light and dose a two part Ca/Alk buffer??

    Interesting...

I'm currently using 8 54-Watt 48" Bulbs- Four Daylight and Four Actinic. I dose Kalkwasser in my ATO.

I have coralline all over two of my tanks, neither of which have "proper light" (just some inexpensive LEDs) and no dosing what so ever. Water changes will replenish all elements used in a FOWLR, or even "lightly" stocked reef tank.

honestly one of the cooler scapes I've ever seen. Any plans for Macro Algae for brighten the place up? Assuming this is a FOWLR, not many of the fish are reef compatable.. the Maroon clown is about it. lol.

+1 you don't need to dose anything for coralline growth. It will happen no matter what, just might take a little longer. Also, your tank is amazing man. Its not hard on the eyes, ignore negative comments.

I couldn't resist buying this little Clown 1 5/8". The Clown will arrive Wednesday but I will have to keep it in a quarantine tank until I'm ready to add it to the Display.
