I just picked up a 7' 210g reef ready tank at a steal so I know I need to start thinking about equipment. Lighting is going to be first. I'm kinda on a budget but I want this be a full sps tank so the bulk of my money is going into lighting. That being said I'd like to get the most bang for my buck. Also, I'd like to go LED or perhaps hoT5s and LEDs. I would like to get some suggestions on what units would allow my to light such a large tank but require buying the least amount of units (i.e. I know the Kessil is a great LED but I don't want to hang like 8 of them over the tank). Really any suggestions, tips or advice woud be great. I've never done a reef tank on this scale before.

210g. sps on a budget will be tough IMO. You will be spending a lot on equipment. Do you already have an RO/DI unit?

Have you considered a DIY fixture?

Hmm. A 7 foot 210? Is this an acrylic tank?

It's a glass Oceanic tank. 7'x2'x2'. My budget is $2000 for equipment and at least that much again just in lighting. I have RO/DI already.

Disregard my statement lol. That budget will definitely allow for options. I thought you meant like a few hundred bucks budget...

A bit off topic, but a 210 measures 6'x2'x2'. If it's 7 foot, it is more than 210 gallons.

    6 x 2 x 2 is 41472 cubic inches = 179.532 gallons.

    7 x 2 x 2 is 48384 = 209.455 g.

No, no. I just didn't want people to think I had unlimited resources to throw at this tank. I'd like to keep the budget as low as possible but I understand this tank is going to be an investment of serveral thousand dollars.

    I believe there is a 6ft version of the 210 but it's like 72"x30"x24"

hmmmmm.....I know very little about lighting but I'm thinking metal halide and maybe add some LED's or t5's to that.
