    Hello 3reef Newbie here :)

So im planning to convert from Freshwater to Saltwater starting with a FOWLR setup then progress to a reef and i would really wanna plan this thing well because my 1st try was a disaster literally.
Now this would be my 2nd and hoping to make this thing work

    What i Have is:

an empty 72"x30"x24" aquarium sitting on a metal Stand
    (2) 35"x18"x24" aquriums beneath it. Planning to turn the 2 into sumps.
an Eheim 2250 maybe for polishing or filled with Carbon and phosphate???

    so heres now my question/s?
Where is the best location to drill holes in my Tank as outflow and how many hole/s and the size? Also with the 2 sump setup how can i fully utilize the 2?
and finally What would you do in this scenario ?

Im sorry for the extra newbie questions and the very long post
im really confused with the plumbing and the holes

on the holes I would say if you are sure on drilling
just guessing that you would use overflow boxes to the intake
a lot of people do corners, or you could do center, or you could do coat to coast
I'm not good with size holes to gph (gallons per hour) so ill leave that to someone else

with the double bottom tanks i would connect them and have one as a fuge and the other as protein skimmer and return pump

oh yeah good luck and welcome to 3reef ;]

Before you go too far, I would like to ask one question: did you ever use medication in the tank, specifically copper?
I don't know about the drilling and plumbing. As far as the dual tanks underneath, I would make one a fuge then the other a sump with all the equipment. Have it flow to the fuge first then the sump, then back into the tank. That would be killer.

The Only medication used was Melafix,

The tank Used to be a Tanganyikan Tank but due to the rise of the Euro over our Philippine Peso Its very Pricey to Import quality Cichlids :) SO decided to Shift Sorry for the Brief history

And with the medications i used to run the water on UV and Carbon but now its just filled with tank and Freshwater and sand
