25 gal tank.. about 30 lbs LR. lightly stocked with one (very small) ocellaris clown, royal gramma, and a damsel. Good amount of GSP and misc hearty polyps, shrooms. Any recommendations for a HOB skimmer on a tank this size? I was also thinking of adding a few chromis and or a banghai cardinal. would this be too heavily stocked for my tank? compatible? reef safe? I was considering a bak pak 2 or maybe an octopus. anyone have good/bad experience with either of these? any input/advice is highly appriciated. thanks alot - nati(newbie)reefer

I had a 29 gallon with a super skimmer65...okay skimmate but a real pain to dail in the "sweetspot", and as for over stocking, its not just about keeping water quality right its also about allowing each fish to have their own territory. I'd just keep the fish you got, if you had to add another fish i'd go with the cardinal, as the chromis need to be in groups in order to defend themselves from the damsel.

oh ya no more thing, cause i'm in the same boat as you with trying to find a skimmer, i need a larger one than my css, i was comparing the bak pak with the octopus hang on models and i have read many accounts of people liking the octopus over the bak pak, the one thing i don't think i'd like with the cpr's is the tinted plastic, but its just my opinion as i like to see the real color of the skimmate, but this doesn't affect the preformance. one thing to note though is with the octopus/bakpak the collection cup just sits in the skimmer with an o-ring, as oppose to the super skimmer which is a screw on type. I think the cup on the bakpak/octopus is easier to take off and clean, cleaning the super skimmer cup is a pain cause i got to either turn it off or re adjust it to get the cup off with flooding my floor, then redail it back to the sweet spot. Just something to think about.

I have a 31G and i use the Tunze nano. It is small, and its doesnt half work. I've seen skimmers bigger and desinged for bigger tanks do worse a job!

Also the aquamedic flotors would be good for you. But they are air driven.

I have a css super skimmer 125 for sale. It's about a year old. I would sell it for 75 plus shipping. It does not come with a bubble diffuser though but there is a mod on here for that.
