So i setting up a 25 gal tank for a Mantis. How long should the Tank take to cycle. I took out about 25 LBS from of live rock from the already cycled tank. I put in new sand and cruched coral.
I been testing and have not seen any changes on NO2 NO3 AMON Levels. Should i buy a fish and put it in there to help with cycle. I have no clue what is gong on. I took off all carbons from filters. Any input would help. All levels show that they are at zero. But it been cycling for 1 week now. I m using RO/DI water dont know if that make a def.

How long was the live rock in the cycled tank? I am thinking you will not see a cycle because you are using cured rock.

Don't use a fish, it's cruel to use them for cycling. Just get a piece of shrimp and put it through pantyhose or something similar for a few days to cycle it (the pantyhose are so you can easily pull it out after).

You probably are done with the cycle. If you are using fully cured rock (which it sounds like you are) then it should have come with a good amount of biological filtration.... No need to add ammonia source IMO.

I have no clue on mantis tanks so I wouldn't know what to tell you to get next, but my next buy for a regular tank would be CuC.

You should be fine and I wouldn't expect much of a cycle if any at all. I moved from an 8 to a 20 for my Mantis with 30lbs of live rock and had no cycle at all. Did you move any of the water from the old tank?

As for the CuC I would not invest much for a Mantis tank, it will take them out in a matter of weeks (buy big snails with thick shells :) ). I have two left that mine has been trying to eat for months.
