95% of all algae in my big tank was growing on my sand, and I cant stand dirty sand. no matter what I did it always looked like crap, and wasn't really liking the idea of constantly vacuuming the top layer off and replacing it every few months to keep it looking pearly white. besides, everything else is all black, might as well make the [lack of] substrate match.

Awwwww balls, the tank is going through a cycle and all my corals and clams look to be at deaths door. There all at my LFS in their DT while I get my tank sorted out.

Thanks steve, looks like the nitrite spike is settling down, and I just ordered an MP-10 to help out with my lack of flow. I should be able to get my fish back in in a few days, and if all goes well the corals will soon follow.

I got a big water change done after adding some sand and redoing the rockscape. This is the 4th (and hopefully final) time I played with it to get everything just right. The MP10 is frikking amazing, I couldn't be happier with its performance . I have it on short pulse mode right now as I'm digging the wave action but might need to tone it down some depending on how my corals react to it.

My levels seem to be back to normal and monday I plan to add a couple fish to see how it goes. so far I lost my 2 clams, 2 chalices, huge frog spawn, a few heads of torch, 30-40 heads of duncans, 2 rbta clones, a few frags, my linkia star, 6-line, fire fish, strawberry basslet . . . and probably more is gone lost in the LFS display tank. here is a few updated pics[.

The funny thing is I only have that MP10 cranked up to about 3/4 power on short pulse mode. The wave it makes is hypnotic! I got a video of it on my phone but am having problems getting it to youtube and my email. I will never have another coral tank without some kind of vortech pump on it, I am amazed with its performance.

Thanks for the compliments, I hope to toss in a few fish and shrimp tomorrow to get some life in there.
