I have a 46 gallon bow and currently use a sunpod with 2 150 watt 14,000K Phoenix bulbs. I have no heat problems so no chiller needed and I place the fixture on my tank. I have some sps about 10 inches under, Soft corals, LPS, Mushrooms and a Crocea Clam 15 inches under. If I went with the 2 250 watt fixture will the soft corals, LPS and mushrooms not do as well or even burn? I think the Clam and SPS would do better with the 250's. I am not sure if the tank can handle it without a chiller also. If anybody has tried 500 watts of MH lighting over a 46 gallon or similar please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Timely post.
I have a 46 Bow and still deciding on the lighting. I was looking for two 150mh with the 4 39w T5, but was woried about the heat. Sounds like thats not a problem for you.

I was at the LFS yesterday and was taliking about the lights,. He had T5 on all softies and a tank next to it that had the two 150. He said he didnt like to two 150 set up and moved them to the two 250mh tank and they perked right up and the color came out on the SPS.

The 46 Bow is pretty deep and I dont think that would be too munch light. After talking to the LFS wdith the tanks and lights he had, I may just look at the dual 250 now.

    Anyway, good luck.
