250 watt vs 150 watt

I have cheap leds on my nano and SPS is thriving from the middle to the top

 

Don't know why I thought the tank was taller than that. Thanks, and I definitely agree on SPS to the sand.

 

I'd guess if you've had it 5 years, you have an okay one LOL. Mine didn't last nearly that long. IIRC, it was maybe a year, just out of waranty I remember that not that I would have trusted another one anyways...


Just doing a quick search, here are a few threads I found that seem to describe exactly what may have happened. It sounds like others have had problems with the top clamp melting, I think this was basically what happened to mine. It melted, let go and then running all day dangling, melted through the top wires. Perhapse you could make up a better clamp or something, but these things are dangerous IMO, I have serious issues with a company that would sell such a product. That's just my .02 though...

Also, this guy on 3 reef might have had some sort of melting problem with the socket itself, but he never followed up. Maybe he is still lurking?

Edit: I like the LED idea though, great option for a nano IMO.

 

What 150watt mh bulb has the best color combination I would prefer a blue tint would I still have to supplement atinic?

 

i like the corallife 150 de mh 20k it has done a good job for me
