Okay I am fixing to get some new powerheads for my 55 gal, I figure 2500 GPH is sufficient if not let me know. My question is should I split the load with one on each end or is one going to be okay? How many do you have? And then theres the matter of direction. Would listen to all input. Thank you for your time.....

One on each end would be OK. Just OK. Personally I would have four total. Four Koralia-2s would be nice. That in and of itself would put you at the mark. Now....do you....no you don't. You don't have a sump so there is no return. Yeah. I would go with four K-2s at 600GPH each. Good flow. I LOVE IT.

Basically, you could ensure no dead spots with lots of powerheads. Two pointing back, two pointing forward.

+1 to Johns comments. Multiple, smaller powerheads are much better than fewer, more powerful ones

Hi Cold shot - split between 4 power heads is ideal
    and my own preference is
2 larger ones back corners both pointing towards middle
2 smaller ones lower down one pointing to middle of the back of reef and one pointing forwards

that gives me adequate flow , but with more at surface and less in the bottom 3rd
this gives me easy placement locations for different types of coral species - flow loving towards top half, those that prefer quieter envirorment towards the base
