I am looking at lighting again. This time it's metal halides.

fish need it;lights; food;Sponge has metal halide fixtures at good prices. Though I know the bulb isn't very good.

What would be a good replacement bulb for this fixture?

Also, what are the differences between 14k & 20k bulbs? I know it has something to do with color, but I am not certain. Don't the higher numbers have more of a blue-ish appearance? I was looking at either 14,000k or 20,000k.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Seano!! You'll like 14K, bright with a slight blue tinge will make your corals "pop" a little. Ushio's are going for like $56 ea @ Aquacave or BRS. Drs Foster & Smith have them cheap as well. Look for one with free shipping!

Cool. Oh & btw, Seabass, I still plan on getting the 150w. fixture from you(unless I come across a large amount of money at the end of the rainbow you seem to think I always frolic around, with sams(lol). I am just thinking about this one for if I can upgrade later.

I was looking for the mh as a daylight. I'm not certain how blue I want it. I want T5 or LED supplemental lighting for dawn/dusk.
