That would be really cool, but im in an apartment. I dont think the people below me would like me drilling and cutting out parts of the floor to install a plug in. I would make an attempt if i had my own house. thanks

Ohh, and as far as I know, I cannot drill it. I found a sticker that says tempered on the bottom glass. but does that mean just the bottom glass is tempered or the whole thing? i might just have to contact Marineland.

Im trying to decide on a pump and overflow box at the moment and I am leaning towards the Eshopps PF-300 (300gph max) matched up with a mag drive 5 (about 300 at 4ft of head). what do you think?

Most tanks have the bottom panel tempered for strength, however the sides are generally left untempered (tempering all sides would increase costs). You can easily contact the manufacturer to confirm this. If you do decide to drill, check out glass-holes.com, they sell a wide range of complete overflow kits with hole saws and everything. Plus they give you free candy.

Once glass has been through the tempering process, it is not possible to drill it. As the inner layer is under compression and the outer layer is under tension, any attempts to drill tempered glass will cause the entire panel to shatter.
