My first post. Setup my first reef tank. A 20 long. I have 2 coralife t5no 30" fixtures. 2 actinics, 2 6700k bulbs. I have an Ac70 converted to a Fuge, with an Ac30 impeller. Here's my question. I have a 27 watt 6500k pc desklight I was thinking of gutting to make a fixture for my refugium. Is this gonna be overkill? My other option is making a fixture and putting a lower wattage 6500k cfl. I have lr rubble, chaeto, and copepods going in it. Let me know your opinions please. Thanks.

6700k is a good spectrum for plant growth. For your corals I would swap them out for 10k bulbs. Or even koralline zuchts new generation or fiji purple. 6700 produces lots of chloraphyl. It will really bring your algae out.
My advice would throw your t5 w the 6700 bulb over the refugium

That should be great for the refuge.

I have 2 10000k bulbs also, on a planted tank. I know most use 10000k, however I read a few places that said the 6700k will grow stuff better in a reef tank, according to someone who researched and compared the 2. It said the actinics make up the other end of the spectrum...
I think t5s on my Ac70 Fuge will look stupid hanging a foot over each side...
So is my 27 watt quad pc not overkill for the fuge?

Built my Fuge, added lr rubble, chaeto, tisbe copepods, and put the 27 watt light on it. Didn't gut the light yet to build a hood, wanna see how it works out first. I put 1/4 lb of chaeto in it. Didn't jam it in there, but its full to the top. Is that too much? Here's some pics...[IMG][IMG][IMG]
One other question. I have an Ac30 impeller in my Ac70. It's on the lowest flow. Should I leave it on the lowest flow? Or put it on full flow. I also have an Ac20 impeller I could use if I need to slow flow more... Tell me what u think. I'm very happy with the Ac30 impeller flow on low, but this is all new to me and I want to here some opinions.
