Setting up a new tank! Unfortunately for me, it is a major downsize. I moved out on my own into an upstairs apartment and couldn't take the 120g with me, but that wouldn't keep me out of the hobby! My LFS had a couple of the JBJ nano cube LED models at slightly better than internet price, so I picked one up. Its been running for three weeks now, cycled and all levels perfect.

Just put it "Marley", a tank raised true perc, an emerald crab, and a peppermint shrimp. My tentative stocking list is the Clown, a Canary Blenny, Six or Four Line Wrasse, and a McCullochi Dottyback.

I'll forgo a skimmer and rely on bi-weekly water changes for now. Running an inTank media basket with filter floss up top, Carbon/GFO in the middle, and Chaeto in the bottom. Tank has about 25 pounds of LR.

Let me know what yo guys think! I'll keep the post updated with new additions.

I bought the inTank media basket, much larger, and nicer. Either one will work fine though. I would recommend ditching the stock black filter cause you don't want to have to clean that out every couple days. Just go get some cheap filter floss, I get mine for free from my LFS, cut it up into small squares and change them every few days. That will filter out any large particles and uneaten food from the system.

For the middle chamber I use 2 tablespoons each of Carbon and GFO from Bulk Reef Supply in a media bag. Change that out once a month. I hear many people talk about using Chemi Pure Elite here instead. Haven't used it before, but I'm going to look into it.

The bottom chamber I have chaeto growing with the JBJ Nano-Glo light.

    It's been an expensive weekend...

I know patience is key in this hobby, but geez I hate staring at a bare tank just like everyone else! So I raided Live Aquaria's Divers Den this week and also hit up all three LFS in town to get me going. Needless to say, I spent much more than I intended too, but it's worth it right?? ;D Well here are some pics from this weeks shopping spree.

Found this nice two head Dendro frag, already has 5 more buds growing!

Red Open Brain Coral - He started to spew some this evening after opening up fully earlier today. I'm sure its just stress from shipping, he should be fine.

    Reverse Prism Brain Coral

Purple Mini Carpet Anemone - This guy immediately started moving around, and already looks like he's going to split!

McCullochi Dottyback - Still pretty shy, haven't got a good pic yet, but oh man what a beautiful fish!

And an updated FTS, which shows the GSP and pink chalice I picked up also.
