    some back round:
ive had this tanks running for 7 months ish... i had a peacock mantis in it. sadly he died because of a stupid mistake by me ( a feeder crab was missed and it killed him during a molt). it has 25ish lbs live rock 3 in sand bed, took out the bio balls and replaced with a ton of live rubble. i put afew teeny tiny blue legs and snails in the back to aid in clean up. it has an unknown brand skimmer but it works really good pulls thick stinky gunk out.

it now houses 3 damsels i used to cycle my tanks i love them they are pretty but i dont love them that much that i want a tank just for them. i have found them a home in a friends tank wich has other damsels in it.

i been trying to find a Odontodactylus japonicus but they are no where to bee found. so ive given up and am looking for other odd ball options for my tank.i know a goodd enough amount about cephalopods to feel comfertable keeping one. im just worried about cuddle fish life span and octos hiding all the time ...

    any suggestions ?

i think cuddle fish and octopuses need larger tank than a 29. i have a twenty nine also my stocking list in in my signature. they are fun to watch. if you do find an octo (besides blue ring) that can fit in a twenty nine, let me know. i can house my fish in another tank while i have an octo.

Never know how old the pygmys are though........could be buying a very old one plus they have very short lifespans

The octos and cuttles both have relatively short lifespans I think 2 yrs maybe max, if I'm remembering right.

What about a shrimp goby and pistol shrimp? There is some interesting behavior there. Might even work with pipefish too since they aren't very aggressive feeders.
