This is my first attempt at a saltwater tank. I have had fresh water tanks for about 5 years. I have always wanted a saltwater so he is my first try. My tank has been set up for about 3 1/2 weeks now. It finished cycling after 2 weeks.

29 Gallon Tank, 130 Current USA Light, Koralia 1 Power Head by Hydor, right now i just have a canister filter, 10 Pounds of FIJI Fanch Branch Live Rock. Working on saving up for a skimmer and more live rock.

Yeah.....two weeks is a little quick for the cycle to end. I am betting your tank is still working things out.....it's just not letting you know. Three months is a good goal to set for corals. One year for a small anemone. When you add fish (and it is a little early to go double live gonzo), add no more than one fish per two weeks...unless you are adding something like a mated pair. I would wait till the 6 week mark to have more than one fish though.

For skimming, I am going to throw out ideas at you. Consider though, that skimming and lighting are two things you do now want to skimp on. So in the order of preference, my standard three HOBs:

**Aqua Medic Turbo Flotor Multi SL
    **AquaC Remora Pro
    **Octopus BH-100F

And start saving up for lighting......you will be spending money there as well.

    Oh, and Welcome to 3reef!!!!!!

    Peace.......John.

Oh I HIGHLY doubt that. Sorry. 2 weeks and it will just be barely starting. Do you have logs of test results to prove this?

    Welcome to 3reef.

Your tank sounds a lot like mines equipment wise (look at my sig for details). I don't think you're done cycling yet. Everyone's cycling period is different but it took mines about 10 weeks. 2 weeks sounds really fast. This is a great place to come to for help and advice. Good luck.

BTW- if u want corals, your going to have to add AT LEAST another koralia in there (unfortunately)... Also, make sure that your Ca2+, Mg, and Strot are in check (have to buy these tests also..) and also test for phosphates..

As far as a protein skimmer, I personally use the seaclone from drs foster and smith. Its rated for 105 gallons, is like $80, and works GREAT. The pic is a little decieving (its bigger in real life, obviously), but if u read the reviews on it as well, all good things...

Id shop around for a light.. u can get pretty good deals, ranging anywhere between 120- god knows what. Just make sure its no less than 90 watts..

YAY- thats like (at least) $300 for coral.. not to mention the coral itself....
