My LFS said that it was through cycling i took him some of my water every few days and he tested it. Whats wrong with the light i have? Mine is a 130 watt current usa light. I don't have a test kit yet i need to get this also with my skimmer. What is a good kit to get?

one for Mg, one for Ca, one for Alk...along with one for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate.

sorry but your LFS is quite wrong about the cycling:( On the lighting...130 watts of what? T5's? PC's? you might want a little more on the lighting aspect!!

The T5s should be good for softies and most LPS, not sure about anemones. And as people stated, I would hold off on any kind of livestock for awhile. Save up for other equipment and dont cheap out on it. You would rather get one really good item that will last rather than multiple cheap bad quality items.

    BTW nice aqua scape.

Oh i am going to hold out on getting any coral for about 2 more months. I was just checking to see if the equipment that i have now will work.

T5's can handle anemones and almost anything you throw at them. Buddy of mine has had his 29 reef setup for 3 years now, with T5's and he's had his BTA in there for 2 years. And he's had a Crocea clam in there for quite some time as well. Just saying ::)

And, I can believe your cycling is done. Our tank cycled in two weeks, only because we used LFS precured rock and LFS water. Only dead in the tank was the "live" sand. We added a pair of clowns, as well as an entire bottle of nitrifying bacteria, after week one. We read zero on nitrites and ammonia after two weeks, and we read zero on nitrates after adding the skimmer.

I would stay far away from the Seaclones as possible. They get the job done, but they are terrible when compared to what you could have. There's no comparison between the performance of the Seaclones, and let's say an Octopus. I wouldn't buy them if I were you.

The two things you CAN'T go cheap on in aquariums is lighting and a skimmer.

I'm no expert, but I think your lights are fine for just about anything except for most SPS and clams. Right now I currently have Xenia's, 2 different types of Zoas, Trumpet Coral, Toadstool Leather, Mushrooms, and Frogspawn that are all thriving, growing, and multiplying under 4 x 24 watts T5s.

Oh yeah. You are good for now. Start basic to get the hang of it and when you decide to go for some really light demanding stuff, I would change out your bulbs to UVL or Giessemann. It does matter what brand of bulb you get. The ones that come with the Nova are not that good ITO quality. So when it comes time, just hop onto reefgeek.com and let 'em know what you want. Aquatic Art Techologies can help you out also. Both are reputable (they are sponsors after all) and have great track records.
