your tank is still young - just started in early february, right? you can't tell if the cycle is done unless you know the trend on the NO3 - if its stable, that's done. if it's rising, you're still working thru it. really the goal is 0, and a lightly stocked tank should cycle until the NO3 is down to 0.

The algae blooms are normal, expected, and painfully long. Getting your skimmer in and running may help (i'd be interested to hear other's input on that).

I started a tank LAST February (2008 ). It wasn't until this winter that things really started to look like the tanks you see on this website, but again this was my first tank so i've been learning alot...

    good luck!

yep! get yourself a decent arsenal of snails/hermit crabs/various other detritus eaters. I remember when i was cycling my 29...it took 3 months. and i had terrible algae issues.

Do you use RO/DI water? Idk if it was mentions so sorry for the double question if that is the case!!

The brown diatoms are from a source of silicates, and also overfeeding can aid its outbursts... I would guess you feed heavily with the test results you received?

I have pods all in my tank crawling around. Is this good? If so how? They are kinda clear white looking little bug things.
