Just picked up a 10g tank and all the PVC I need. Also going to go ahead and order from Refugium Mud and 15lb of arganite sand. But I will probably just go ahead and set this all up today and add the sand and mud next week to new sump/fuge :)

Hope I don't have any problems plumbing the overflow

Mobalized would you maybe give me the dimensions of your longer pipes? I cut my intake at around 13" I guess the other long pieces would be probably around 11 or 12"

Its about 14" measuring from the bottom outside 180 to the top outside 180. If that makes sense.

yes -- which would be longer than on your intake? What is your intake pipe at if you don't know don't bother measuring. I think I have to shorten mine, it's about 13" but I didn't get to finish today so I haven't run it.

Picked up a used 10g and ordered some fiji mud and 20lb of aragonite, also i think i messed up by buying 3/4" clear vinyl tubing it looks a little took big but I'll find out tomorrow or wednesday

I am not sure on my intake I started with it long and cut it down. I made the base overflow then placed it on the biocube and marked where it needed to be cut to. Cut the intake, tested, then sealed.

What are you using to cut the PVC? A hack saw is messy and uneven, I guess I'll just have to file it down afterwards. :) DIY is always fun

I used a hack saw unfortunately. Still made pretty straight cuts.

Thats what I did in Lowes in the middle of the plumbing isle. Made a bit of a mess but I used to work at Home Depot and my dad works at Lowes, so I went in there with my dog, got comfortable and basically made the whole thing there, just need to get everything lined up and my tubes a little shorter

Lots of people do this and thats why these stores are great. The employees usually welcome all friendly dogs, and are more than willing to lone a few tools

When I built mine I kinda just designed on the fly and kept test fitting. The first time I didnt cement it together very well and had a minor leak that I had to pull it apart and re cement.

Ok I don't know what I am doing wrong but I'm not getting any suction from my overflow. Unless I put my mouth over the "breather" cap and suck so that water pressure builds and finally starts to drain, but shortly there after the pressure drops and the water stops flowing. Maybe I need another 180 bend or something? Here's a picture:

I drilled 3 small holes in the end cap on the top right of the photo, is it drawing in too much air? Wonder if the hole needs to be smaller or what. Not sure what I'm not doing right!
