I created a 5.5 gallon sump and made the most I could out of the room.
I purchased the tank from Petco and some plastic from home depot, then I cut it as close as possible to the tank size and used aquarium silicone to attach to glass. I reinforced with some plastic side pieces. This has allowed me to put the skimmer in the sump and a small refuge with quite a bit of LR / LS. I included some pictures but the water level is higher then normal (it usually cascades into the second chamber). There is even some mushroom corals that have found a home :)

I hope this helps, Good Luck!

This is the exact setup I have and it is working great. I have a 29 display tank running into a 10 sump. On top of the sump I have a 2.5 gallon drilled refugium that has a homemade overflow that flows back into the sump via a flexible hose. In the 10 gall sump I have a filter sock with holder, a Coral life 65 super skimmer, a titanium heater, two little fishies phoshate reactor, and a mag 7 return pump as well as two float switches for my auto top off system. I also have a home made acrylic 4 gall R/O DI water reservoir that sits beside the sump. All of this equipment is in a stand under a 29 gall tank. It is all a tight fit but it works and it is easily serviceable.
