this is what i am thinking of doing to my tank because i have a ton of hard and soft coral. 3 175w MH and 4 t-5 actintics would that be good for them

I was going to say that as well pack. I don't think the 175w will be enough on a standard 75. IMO Go with 2 - 250w

Wouldn't 2 MH lamps be enough for a 4 ft tank?

    yes

    personally i think 2 175 with 4 t5 would be a good set.
it would provide a high light zone in the top half of the tank with a lower light area in the bottom for soft corals.

It would be a good set up, but he might still need to keep things up a little being that they are 175's. Personally at that power I would go with 150's. Or better yet 250's. 175's just don't have nearly the bulb choices out there. Something that will come up down the road

18-19in of water but add about 5 more to where the lights are, and i think i can only fit 2 175's but could get three if you think that would be better

HMMMM I'm growing sps on the bottom of my 150 gallon tank and I only have 175 watters. 2 of them. I think 2 175's would be plenty for a 75 gallon tank.
