But i agree with what was said above. No clean water, no algae solution!!!

The way i clean out aiptasia when i have it is a half half mix of warm water and muratic acid on a syringe, and inject the aiptasia and the immediate area to it. I have had good success and id dont affect your corals.

I know that it was said to not scrub the algae but what if I were to take the rocks out and scrub them in a bucket of saltwater? The "in tank" scrubbing was for naught but what about the bucket?

If you take all of your rock out and scrub it, you're going to have some bacterial die off so be prepared for a mini cycle once that's all said and done. I would look to fix your water issue before even attempting to do this though because your rock is most likely leaching a lot of the stuff that is causing your algae problems and putting those rocks back into a tank full of well water isn't going to solve anything.

Many over look the and tend to forget of not no that the rocks act as a mineral sink and can and do store and bind up many minerals that can cause the algae issues. Like the PO4 problem we fought with the rocks from Eds old system Took 6 months and changing the media weekly to get them out of the water as they leeched from the rocks. Even the great Dr Ron had that issue and after many months of research on the subject he concurred and had data . I just applied common sense from yrs of working with dirt And if they don't use carbon then its even worse.
